Hype and Anti-Hype

In Hype and Anti-Hype, Thomas L. Friedman tells us that the real Internet revolution has just begun. I couldn't agree more. When I am out speaking at conferences, I find that the message is catching on: nonprofits should be aiming for a mature, human centered approach to new technology.

Content is Not King

Once again, First Monday hits a bullseye. In Content is Not King, Andrew Odlyzko shows how connectivity is more important than content, starting with the clear example of email as the "killer application" of the Internet. Nonprofits have invested huge amounts of money in destination web sites, but almost nothing in managing large quantities of email. This is a mistake.
